Starting September 5, 2006, Kemp Intermediate School is sponsoring an Community Learning Center for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students from 3:15 - 5:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday. We are going to have four clubs this year for around eighty participants. Teachers will provide activities that are fun and meaningful. The library will remain open during that time and also on Thursday nights from 6 - 9 p.m. for parents and students to use. There will be a computer lab to be shared by the teachers and students and music, art, and organized physical activities will be offered. Snacks will be provided to the students after school. The program will run the rest of the year for at least twenty weeks, excluding school holidays and end around two weeks before school ends. The four clubs are: The Adventure Club, The Scribbler Club, The Solutions Club, and The Explorers Club.
Parent education classes will be offered at different points during the year, and parents are welcome to come to the library and use the computers also. We also hope that our parents will come help us with the program.
Bus transportation will be provided to designated areas at the end of the day. Details will be provided later to the participating students.
Unfortunately, there is only room this year for eighty students in the program this year. I have provided an application below to those interested. Parents will be notified of their student's acceptance to the program. There will be a waiting list and students can come into the program as others move or do not attend.
