Hello to All;

Thank you for visiting our webpage.

Our results are back from the state on the 8th graders who took the Math TAKS test.  We had 80% of our kids pass, and 14% were commended.  This is a 17 point increase over last years scores.  Congratulations to our students for doing so well, and thank you to all the parents who have and continue to support their child’s academic success.

This year has been a great year for our school, and I have enjoyed being a part of it tremendously.  We have had a lot of great successes this year that include our athletic teams, our UIL team, and success in the classroom.  We are very proud of our student this year, and they have done a great job.

Kemp Junior High is having our awards night on May 22 at 6:00.  We hope you will be able to attend to help us honor the great kids at KJH and the great job they have done this year.

Our Class field trips are to the Whatz Up Family Fun Park on May 15th for Seventh graders, and May 16th for Eighth graders.  The cost for each kid is $16, but our CSO is supplementing  the cost of each ticket.  So each student will only have to pay $10.  We have been telling the students since Thursday April 24th that they must behave in school to attend this trip, and if a student is placed in ISS after the 24th they will not be allowed to attend the field trip.

Teacher Appreciation Week is scheduled for May 5th through the 9th.  I just want to say thank you to our staff for the great  job that they do.  We have a great group of teachers and paraprofessional aides who work at KJH.

Please monitor your students work and grades by checking their school planner, and our K12 planet website.  Mr. Noble, our counselor, and myself have been working with our 8th grade students who need help in academic areas, and we are beginning a tutoring schedule to help students in Reading and Math.  Please remember if your student is an 8th grader this year they have to pass the TAKS Math and Reading tests to advance into 9th grade.

Our Attendance rate is up this year, and KJH believes students learn best when they are at school on a regular basis.  Please work with your kids to get them to school everyday.  Also, if your student has a Doctor’s appointment they will not be counted absent if they have note form the doctor and attended school part of the day of the appointment.
